Neue Alphabet is a custom typeface developed as a typographic exploration inspired by the work and ideas of Dutch designer Wim Crouwel, particularly his influential book Neue Alphabet.

The typeface reinterprets the principles of Crouwel’s experimental approach, exploring the relationship between geometric structure, readability, and contemporary visual communication.

Concept

The aim was to create a distinctive yet functional typeface that could adapt across multiple applications while maintaining a strong typographic identity. The design balances clarity and character, creating a system that feels both experimental and practical.

Typeface System

Neue Alphabet is available in both Greek and Latin characters, including Bold and Regular weights, extending the original typographic research into a contemporary bilingual system.

Through the development of Greek letterforms alongside the Latin alphabet, the project explores how international typographic ideas can evolve within a broader cultural and linguistic context.

Outcome

Neue Alphabet represents the studio’s contribution to contemporary typography, combining historical reference with original design research. More than a display typeface, it is a study of structure, form, and the continuous evolution of graphic language.
